Trump Administration Begins to Take Shape

Trump administration; Nimrud liberated

US President-elect Donald Trump has awarded key roles in his incoming team to a top Republican party official and a conservative media chief. Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), will be his chief of staff. Stephen Bannon, from the conservative Breitbart News Network, will serve as Mr Trump's chief strategist. What clues do these give us to the direction of the Trump administration?

Iraqi government forces say they've recaptured Nimrud - the site of an ancient city south of Mosul. The historical site was overrun by the so-called Islamic State group two years ago. The old city, once the capital of the Assyrian empire, was reportedly completely destroyed by IS last year, an act condemned by the UN as a war crime.
