Clinton describes loss as 'painful'; Obama to work on smooth transition; Holland's jails

Senior Republican and Democratic politicians in the United States have appealed for unity after a bitter election campaign. President Obama said he would work as hard as he could to ensure a successful transition between his and Donald Trump's new administration. He'll meet the president-elect on Thursday. Earlier, Hillary Clinton urged her supporters to give him the chance to lead.
