Afghan "green-eyed girl" on trial in Pakistan
She was the most immortalised woman on the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985, and was known as the green-eyed 12-year-old refugee girl from Afghanistan. But Sharbat Gula could face now a fine and up to 14 years in jail after she was arrested in Pakistan for allegedly holding fake identity papers. A trial later today will decide whether she can be released on bail. Steve McCurry --the photographer behind the picture-- spoke to BBC Newsday.
