Kerry Urges Grounding of Syria Planes

US and Russia blame each other over ceasefire collapse; Racial tensions in US; Egyptian ferry

The United States and Russia have exchanged bitter recriminations at the UN security council over an attack on an aid convoy in Syria, and the break-down of the ceasefire. The Americans believe Russia bombed the convoy, the Russians deny that. The US Secretary of State John Kerry threw off diplomatic restraint as he mocked Russia's changing narrative. The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, counselled against emotional responses, listing several possible explanations.

It's a tense night in Charlotte, North Carolina, after yet another black man was killed by police. In this case the police say the facts of the story are different to how it has been portrayed on social media.

Around 400 people are still unaccounted for after a boat carrying an estimated six-hundred illegal migrants capsized off the coast of Egypt, killing at least forty-two people.
