A state of emergency has been declared in North Carolina in response to continuing unrest in the city of Charlotte over the fatal shooting of a black man by police. The governor is taking steps to deploy the National Guard.
A boat carrying an estimated six-hundred illegal migrants has capsized off the coast of Egypt, killing at least forty-two people. The authorities say one hundred and fifty people have been rescued so far.
