Aid convoy hit near Aleppo; Latest on the New York bombings; Electoral violence in DRC
An aid convoy to a rebel-held area near Aleppo has been hit by an airstrike, just hours after the Syrian army declared an end to a week-old ceasefire. The convoy, staffed by the Syrian Red Crescent, was hit while delivering UN aid in the rural area of Urm al-Khubra.
Ahmad Khan Rahami, a suspect wanted in connection with recent bombings in the USA has been arrested following a shootout with police. Mr. Khan and two police officers were injured during the fire fight. The arrest follows two bombings and the discovery of a backpack containing a further five devices in New York and New Jersey, USA.
The authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo say seventeen people, three of them policemen, one of whom was burned alive, have been killed in the latest protests against President Joseph Kabila.
