The Paralympics are under way in Rio de Janeiro after a spectacular opening ceremony mixing Brazilian music, fireworks and modern technology. The Brazilian president Michel Temer was booed at the event at Rio's famous Maracana stadium.

Presidential candidates Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump have appeared at the same televised event. Both candidates faced an audience mostly comprising veterans and active members of the military. They answered questions at a so called "Commander-in-Chief" forum aired by the NBC network.

Apple has unveiled its latest handsets at an event in San Francisco following a year in which its phone sales and market share shrank. The iPhone 7 will not have a traditional headphone socket.
