
Gun Violence Soars in Chicago
Chicago gun violence; Saudi Arabia in Syria; Obama in Laos
Last month saw the largest number of people killed by gun violence in the US city of Chicago in twenty-three years. Over the past weekend alone 65 people were shot in the city. The BBC's Ian Pannell has spent a week in two of Chicago's most violent neighbourhoods.
The BBC's chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet has been speaking to the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, Adel al-Jubeir, about whether it is time to change their policy towards the conflict in Syria.
President Obama is to meet survivors of the United States' secret bombing campaign in Laos more than 40 years ago. Mr Obama, who is in Laos for the ASEAN summit, has already promised additional American cash to help rid the country of tens of millions of unexploded bombs.
