In a major speech in Phoenix, Arizona, the US Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has promised to end what he called the cycle of illegal immigration. Outlining a ten-point plan, Mr Trump pledged that there would be no more amnesties if he won November's election.
The Italian coastguard says it has co-ordinated the rescue of more than 10,000 migrants over the the last three days, picked up off the coast of Libya.
A scheduled passenger flight from the United States has landed in Cuba for the first time in more than a half century paving the way for future mass travel between the former cold war enemies.
