Italian Quake Reduces Three Medieval Towns to Rubble
Devastating Italian quake; Kabul attack; Australian gold nugget
Nearly 250 people are now known to have died in the earthquake that hit central Italy early on Wednesday. The tremors have reduced three medieval towns to little more than rubble. An attack on the American University of Kabul has ended after Afghan security forces killed two gunmen. An Australian prospector has uncovered a gold nugget weighing more than four kilos and worth an estimated $200,000 after coming across what he thought was an old horseshoe.
