The US Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has sparked new controversy by urging supporters of gun ownership to prevent his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, from abolishing their constitutional right. The Clinton campaign condemned Mr Trump's comments as dangerous.
It is Nigeria's latest security crisis: hundreds have been killed in clashes between herdsmen and farmers this year alone. As population growth explodes so have tensions over access to land and water. The Fulani - a semi nomadic tribe - with millions of members are largely blamed for the attacks, an accusation they deny.
Scientists from Exeter and York University here in England, who are studying the evolution of the menopause, have found clues to its origin in a population of killer whales.
