Obama urges US to 'reject despair'; Ceasefire in South Sudan; President Museveni roadside call

President Obama has urged Americans to reject despair over racial tension, saying the nation is not as divided as it seems. He was speaking at a memorial service for five Dallas policemen shot dead by a sniper who wanted to avenge the killing of black men by police.

For the last 24 hours there has been a relative calm in South Sudan, following four days of intense fighting. Nearly 300 people died. The United Nations says almost forty-thousand people have been displaced by the fighting between the president and his deputy.
