A suicide bombing in Medina, one of Islam's holiest cities, has killed four Saudi security officers, the third such blast in the kingdom in a single day.
One of Iran's most illustrious film-makers, Abbas Kiarostami, has died at the age of 76.
The prestigious Caine Prize for African literature has been won by the South African writer, Lidudumalingani.
