Centenary of the Battle of the Somme

Memorials for those who died in one of the bloodiest encounters of World War One

Commemorations are being held in northern France to remember the more than a million French, British and German soldiers killed in one of the bloodiest encounters of World War One. Also, what now for British politics, as a prospective candidate for the leader of the ruling Conservative party, Michael Gove makes the first speech of his campaign. We hear from our political correspondent. And, there is a general election in Australia but are voters more concerned about which polling station has the best sausage sizzle than who will run the country?
