Commemorations are being held in northern France to remember the more than a million French, British and German soldiers killed in one of the bloodiest encounters of World War One. Also, what now for British politics, as a prospective candidate for the leader of the ruling Conservative party, Michael Gove makes the first speech of his campaign. And, there is a general election in Australia but are voters more concerned about which polling station has the best sausage sizzle than who will run the country?
