Avocado shortage leads to thefts in New Zealand
A shortage of avocados has triggered an unusual crime wave in New Zealand, with opportunistic thieves stealing hundreds of fruits from avocado orchards and selling them on the black market. Jen Scoular, the CEO of New Zealand Avocado, says marketing the "amazingness of avocados" and their health benefits has created a demand the country's producers cannot keep up with.
