Afghan Taliban Acknowledges the Death of its Leader, Mullah Mansour

Haibatullah Akhundzada is the Taliban's new chief; European countries are being urged to tighten data sharing on gun grime; President Mugawe is to be honoured by his supporters.

The Afghan Taliban says it has appointed a new leader, days after Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed by an American drone strike in Pakistan. A Taliban spokesman named Haibatullah Akhundzada as the movement's new chief. It's the first time the Taliban has acknowledged the death of Mullah Mansour.

European countries are being urged to improve data sharing on gun grime - it's one of 30 proposals from a major research project led by Coventry University in Britain and to be presented to law enforcement officials and members of the European Parliament in Brussels.

Later today - Wednesday - supporters of President Robert Mugabe are organising a march in support of the 92-year-old leader. The youth branch of the ruling ZANU PF is behind it and they're calling it a "million-man" march.
