In Brazil the senate is holding a marathon debate which will end in a vote on the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff.

The presumptive Republican nominee for the White House, Donald Trump, now says his controversial call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US was only a suggestion.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo the highest court has decided that long-serving President Joseph Kabila - who has been in power for 15 years and is constitutionally barred from running for a new term - can remain in office even if no election takes place before his mandate expires at the end of 2016.
