A congressional committee in Brazil has recommended the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff for allegedly manipulating government accounts.

The UN special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, has met Syria's foreign minister Waleed al-Mu'allem in Damascus to discuss the next round of peace talks set to take place in Geneva on Wednesday.

The Chinese authorities have begun a national census to try to put the first accurate figure on so called left-behind children who are the children of the millions of people who've joined the biggest worker migration in human history.
