Stories of migration 2015
We reflect on some of the personal stories we heard in the 2015 European migration crisis.
We reflect on some of the personal stories we heard in the 2015 European migration crisis. Much of the early attention was on those crossing the sea from north Africa, with Eritreans the biggest group. There were deadly consequences when boats didn’t make it, as you’ll hear from Malta. Later in the year, our attention was switched to the flow of mostly Syrian people from Turkey to Greece. We hear the dangers of that crossing too. We’ll go to Hungary where crowds gathered at Budapest station and the government built a razor-wire border fence. We also hear from those trying to help the migrants and the impact on politics in the countries that received them.
