Syria-Turkey Border Tensions

Syria-Turkey frontier tensions; Hilary Swank; Niloufar Ardalan, Iranian female footballer.

Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, has described the downing of one of its fighter planes as planned provocation. And, to match the war of words, Russia yesterday launched an air assault on Syrian rebel forces in the border area. Nafiseh Kohnavard from our Persian Service has been on the Turkish side of the frontier.

As part of the BBC's 100 Women series, celebrating inspirational women across the world, we hear from Hollywood actress Hilary Swank.

Iranian woman footballer Niloufar Adralan, captain of the Iranian woman's team, was prevented from leading her team at the final of the Asian Futsal championship in September. The reason? Her husband refused her permission to renew her passport. She took the matter to court and they found in her favour. The BBC's Pooria Jafereh tells us more.
