A new song about China's latest five-year plan, Indonesian smog, Indigenous Games

China's latest five-year economic plan has received a musical makeover, with a new song in English that talks of thinkers, government and even engineers 'who deal with poo'. Newsday talks to Chinese journalist Zhang Li Jia about the song.

Indonesia is considering a national emergency over fires that have been smouldering across the country for weeks. Fires are frequently lit to clear the land, but the haze this year is worse due to a prolonged dry season and the impact of El Nino. Environmentalist Dr. Eric Meijaard in Jakarta explains more.

Roughly a year after the World Cup, a year before the Rio Olympics, Brazil is hosting the first World Indigenous Games. Almost 50 ethnic groups from around the globe are gathered in the city of Palmas, in the Amazon region. The BBC's Julia Carneiro reports.
