'We Face Enormous Danger'
Syria's 'white helmets', Kunduz taken by Taliban, Stocks markets fall across Asia
Away from the high diplomacy over Syria taking place at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the conflict in Syria contiues. Those caught up in the bloodshed are often helped by members of a movement called Syria Civil Defence, though widely known by their nickname 'the White Helmets'. One of its leaders, Raed Saleh, was on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York. Newsday's Rasha Kashan spoke to Raed after his speech.
The Afghan army is fighting to recapture the city of Kunduz, a day after it was seized by the Taliban in a lighting assault. The United States says it has carried out an airstrike there. Stock markets in Asia have fallen sharply, driven by concern that the global economy is slowing.
