People across the world have been enjoying a supermoon eclipse.

People across North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East have been enjoying the rare spectacle of a supermoon eclipse. The face of the Moon is being covered by the Earth's shadow just as it is at its closest point to our planet -- meaning the eclipse should be clearer than usual.

Separatist parties in Catalonia say they will push for independence from Spain after their victory in regional elections.

Russia and Iran have reiterated their support for President Assad of Syria, as efforts to find a solution to the conflict gather pace.
