Islamic Militants Destroy Syrian Ancient Temple

The antiquities chief in Syria has said that Islamic State militants have blown up the ancient temple of Baal Shamin in the city of Palmyra.

In Lebanon the Prime Minister has threatened to resign after protests over uncollected rubbish turned violent.

French President Francoise Holland will meet three Americans who tackled an armed gunman on a train there, and is expected to award them with France's highest accolade.
