Future Voices on the BBC

Plans to add diverse voices and accents on the BBC, and subscription for global audiences.

Amidst questions about the effectiveness of the BBC’s licence fee, the National Audit Office in the UK recently reviewed the Corporation’s savings. It concluded that whilst current savings targets have been achieved, future cuts may have an effect on the quality of programmes. Some listeners wonder whether the BBC World Service is high enough on the BBC’s radar to be protected. And, others from different corners of the world offer their solution to increase the BBC’s funds.

To give you a taste, Rajan speaks to two new bilingual trainee journalists who are being trained up to bring a new diverse dimension to the BBC. Liliane Landor who is the controller of Languages for the BBC World Service Group discusses how young people like them are integral to the BBC’s future.
