In a special programme, Dr Kevin Fong explores the evolution of trauma medicine. He looks at how the treatment of patients with life-threatening injuries has changed over the decades, from the pioneering work of stretcher-bearers in the First World War, to experiences of emergency medical teams in the 21st century, both on and off the battlefield. Kevin is joined by consultant vascular surgeon Eddie Chaloner who has worked with the British Army and with organisations like the Halo Trust and Medicine Sans Frontiers in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Rwanda.
