Stairways to Hollywood
Zeb Soanes goes to Los Angeles to discover an old stairway dating back to the 1920s that scales the Hollywood hills and was used by film stars before the advent of the motorcar
Zeb Soanes goes to Los Angeles to scale Hollywood's forgotten stairways. LA Times editor Charles Fleming takes Zeb on a guided tour, telling him how in the 1920s the Hollywood film stars like Laurel and Hardy wanted to build eccentric houses in the hills surrounding the city. The longest of several staircases is 500 steps and leads Zeb to an amazing story about a self-sustaining Nazi utopia being built on the Hollywood hills in anticipation of a German victory.
