Should China change its approach to censorship?
There have been protests across China over attempts to censor the Southern Weekend newspaper in Guangzhou, after journalists wrote an open letter to the provincial propaganda department calling for the resignation of one of its senior officials Tuo Zhen.
They accuse him of revising their editorial which urged China’s leaders to adopt a constitutional form of governance. They have since gone on strike against government censorship.
This has been the biggest confrontation between the Press and government in over 20 years, and many people have been reacting to the news on social media sites like Weibo.
