Malala Yousafzai and the BBC

Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head on her school bus by the Taliban for "Using her tongue and her pen". She first became well known for her blog for BBC Urdu chronicling what life was like under Taliban rule in the Swat valley. What part have the media played in her story?
