Fighting to save the man who tried to kill me - the extraordinary Rais Bhuiyan

Extraordinary personal stories from around the world.

Today, a story of incredible forgiveness. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks on New York, Bangladeshi-born Rais Bhuiyan was shot and blinded in one eye by a man called Mark Stroman who set out to kill people in his home town of Dallas, Texas, who he believed were Arabs. Rais forgave his attacker - and even went on to campaign, in vain, for his death sentence to be commuted to life.

Also, Ramesh and Swati Ramanathan - the Indian couple who have made it their mission to tackle bribery and corruption across the subcontinent.
