The Sherlock Holmes legacy

It's 150 years since Arthur Conan Doyle was born - the author who created Sherlock Holmes.

The writer Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22nd 1859. If he'd stuck to his early career as a doctor he'd now be entirely unknown. But in 1887 Conan Doyle created the most famous of all fictional detectives -Sherlock Holmes. Vincent Dowd asks what lies behind Holmes' continuing popularity, 150 years after the birth of his creator.
