In 1975 US troops airlifted hundreds of people out of the South Vietnamese capital of Saigon as North Vietnamese troops closed in. They were the final days of the Vietnam war and although most American soldiers had long since left the city, there were some left who helped desperate people escape to aircraft carriers waiting off the coast.
