Popcorn Pops
Scientist Nina and her young experimenters discover how substances change and react. They investigate expanding gases and look at popcorn.
Scientist Nina and her young experimenters discover the amazing ways that things can change and react in our everyday world.
Nina investigates why popcorn pops with the help of Belle, her hearing neuron. Experimenters Matthew, Mhirren and Mohammed visit Nina in her science lab and use their senses to examine some corn kernels before and after they are popped. They notice that the popped corn is much bigger.
Nina does an experiment with balloons to show that gases expand or get bigger when they warm up. Then they all go outside to see some fireworks popping in the sky - they notice that the fireworks go off when they are lit with a flame. Finally, back in the lab, the children do an experiment to prove that warming up air can make things expand and get bigger - which is what happens when popcorn is cooked.
