Basket Case

Reckless angel-in-training Porter Jackson has been sent to Earth to earn his wings. His task is to transform hapless student Carl into the most popular kid in the school.

Porter is definitely cool and full of confidence, but he has already been in trouble a few times due to his fondness for practical jokes. Down on Earth, Carl Montclaire couldn't be more different. At 15, he has been going through a spate of bad luck, which seems to have lasted for 15 years. For Carl, anything that can go wrong generally will go wrong.

Porter has been issued with a challenge. In order to become a full angel, he must make Carl the most popular kid at Bennett High. But it's a tall order, because Carl doesn't want Porter meddling in his life. And sometimes Porter's angel magic needs a little more practice.

Carl Montclaire is heading home from school when he sees Porter Jackson, an angel in training, appear out of thin air. Porter, who moves into Carl's house and pretends to be Carl's distant cousin, reveals that he has been assigned the task of making Carl the most popular student at Bennett High. Porter's first move is to enter Carl in a basketball shoot-out, despite the fact that Carl has never played basketball before.
