Alex and Zoe stumble upon a magic portal in the library and are transported to the world of Animalia, where animals can talk. Animalia is ruled by the Core, a massive organic orb. It has been malfunctioning of late, bringing instability to the kingdom. Alex and Zoe are mistaken for monsters when they first arrive through the portal.
