Prepare to be Taken

The BBC has secured the exclusive television rights to the highly anticipated Steven Spielberg executive-produced sci-fi drama mini-series, TAKEN, in a deal with DreamWorks SKG.

TAKEN is an epic saga that weaves together the stories of three families over 50 years of alien abductions.

Set against the backdrop of actual historical events and featuring spectacular special effects, TAKEN creates a powerful and emotional tale of mankind's encounters with extraterrestrials.

Sue Deeks, Senior Editor, Acquired Series, BBC said: "TAKEN is a compelling science fiction drama. We are truly delighted with this acquisition which we know will thrill and entertain BBC viewers."

Speaking on behalf of DreamWorks, Hal Richardson, head of DreamWorks Television Distribution commented: "We are extremely pleased that the BBC has licensed our latest and most ambitious television project, continuing their commitment to bring quality entertainment to the UK audience."

Steven Spielberg added: "I am also pleased to know that the BBC, which has long been a part of my life, has expanded their relationship with its commitment to TAKEN."

Notes to Editors

TAKEN is a 10-part mini-series which will be shown on BBC TWO and BBC Choice early next year.

DreamWorks SKG was formed in October, 1994, by its three principal partners - Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen - to produce live-action motion pictures; animated feature films; network, syndicated and cable television programming; home video entertainment; records; books; toys; consumer products and interactive entertainment.
