Everett completes senior BBCi Development team

Katharine Everett, Controller, BBCi Development, has today (1 October 2002) announced two new senior appointments to complete her management team.

Tony Ageh will become Head of Search, Listings and BBCi Core and Steve Rogers becomes Head of Production.

BBCi Development is the part of BBC New Media division responsible for the strategic development of BBCi's services across the web and interactive TV.

Its function is to provide the tools enabling BBC genre areas to enhance and increase their new media output, as well as delivering useful, entertaining and connective services which facilitate the digital lives of BBCi audiences.

Tony Ageh took up his position as the new Head of Search, Listings and BBCi Core earlier this month.

Ageh joined BBCi from upmystreet.com where he was Publisher and credited with the creation of The Guardian's The Guide as well as the virgin.net content site and ISP.

Ageh's background spans publishing across web and print media.

In this new role, Ageh will be responsible for BBCi homepage content, ongoing development of BBCi's Search tool first launched in Spring of this year, and building a listings strategy to include and exploit a wealth of material from the BBC's 37 Nations & Regions sites.

Steve Rogers is currently Head of Design & Navigation for BBC New Media, and takes up the new Head of Production role with immediate effect.

As Head of Production, BBCi, Rogers will manage the creative, editorial and technical teams which design BBCi's homepages and core applications across the web and interactive TV.

The role will also include overseeing user-testing, developing production expertise across platforms with the vision to establish BBCi Production as a centre of excellence within the industry.

Prior to joining BBCi in August 2001, Rogers was VP, Physical Design at Razorfish the digital consultancy, and spent 15 years with Philips Design, most recently as Design Director, Philips Design USA.

Katharine Everett said: "Steve and Tony are both world class new media practitioners and it's a real asset to have their experience and expertise on board.

"Now that the senior team is in place, we can really begin to focus on how BBCi can become the centre of our users' digital lives.

"We want to continue to drive digital take-up on the web and TV, to establish communities and a two-way dialogue with our users and create the most innovative, exciting and informative applications, content and services across all our platforms."
