LESSON 18
The most lightning strikes received by one man

Who says lightning never strikes twice? Roy C. Sullivan of Virginia would disagree. For Roy it began in 1942. He lost one toenail when he was hit by lightning for the first time. Then, twenty-seven years later, in 1969, he was struck again and lost his eyebrows. In 1970, he was hit for the third time and he was struck again in 1972, 1973, 1976 and 1977. Sadly, he killed himself in 1983 but he had taken his place in the record books for his seven lightning strikes - the most lightning strikes received by one man.

A Bulgarian woman's first husband was killed by lightning but she re-married. Her second husband too, was struck by lightning and killed. She was very upset and depressed so she went to see her doctor. She fell in love with the doctor and they got married. Unfortunately, he too, was killed by lightning.
