Bugs V1: I downloaded a free program from the internet the other day, but it doesn’t work! V2: There’s probably a bug in it. V1: A bug? V2: Yes, that’s what’s stopping the program from working properly. V1: Oh, so can you fix it for me? V2: I’m not a computer programmer, you know! Bug is another word for an insect. Programming errors are also called bugs. Why? Well, apparently, a long long time ago, at the beginning of the electronic age, there was this computer. It worked quite happily, but one day something terrible happened. One day the computer crashed. They opened it to see what was wrong - and ?! And they found a real insect inside. A bug. A computer bug. For example, if you’re writing a web page using HTML and you forget a particular instruction or tag, your web page won’t be displayed correctly. The missing tag is a bug in your programming. In this case, a tag is a bug.
