The Foreign and Commonwealth Office responds to Panorama's programme examining the accusations of fraud against Sir Allen Stanford.
"The UK Government does not instruct independent companies or individuals how they should invest their money or operate their businesses and to suggest that the Government should interfere in this way is ridiculous. "The UK government does take financial malpractice very seriously and issues regular advice on countries and jurisdictions where there may be serious deficiencies in regulation. It is for companies and the financial professionals they employ to act on this advice with all due diligence."
