Title: Boyfriends

Lisa-Marie Smith perceives her teenage life to be a lot different to that of a non-gypsy. In her culture, it's not acceptable to have boyfriends, drink or smoke - things she thinks 'regular' teens do.

Lisa sees herself as more of a grown-up than an average teen - she doesn't go to school. Instead she spends her time in the home; cooking, cleaning and looking after her younger siblings. But there's no chance of a man in her life, yet!..... so far, boys haven't impressed her, and her mum and dad might not be too pleased.

'Talking Teens'
As part of 'Talking Teens', a survey of parents and adolescents commissioned by the BBC's Special Features Unit for BBC National and Local Radio, we have prepared Video Nation shorts on teenagers.

You can find out about Asiyla and her mum, Ruby and also about Dominic Jones.

The survey provides the biggest snapshot of British teenagers' attitudes and of their parents and carers bringing them up. Over 6,000 parents and 16,000 teen responses were collated from the online survey, accessed through web sites like this one.

Over half of teenagers are in agreement that they get a bad press and only 13 per cent agree that society values them! For more details on the survey, click here.
