Friends of Marilyn and Guy have said that the week before the murder their relationship had become very tense.

The pair were involved in some major arguments at a number of social engagements after which Guy seemed to be doing his best to avoid Marilyn.

One close friend particularly remembers overseeing this little encounter in the Cloisters at St Tim's College.
