Witney is the largest town in West Oxfordshire. Witney has long history in the blanket trade. This ended with the closure of Early's Blankets in 2002, a company that had been in business for more than 300 years. The Town is situated on the banks of the river Windrush which was vital for powering the blanket industry with the use of water mills The picture here shows the Witney Buttercross at the central cross roads of the town.
