Henley is a medieval town. It prospered on being a storage depot for grain grown in the Thames valley before it was transported to London. The Henley Royal Regatta has been held in the town since 1839. The regatta in July is a major international sporting event and attracts top athletes from all over the world to take part in the competition on the river Thames. As well as the award winning River and Rowing museum in Henley you can pay a trip to Brakspear's ales at the Henely Brewery or the Kenton Theatre, which is the fourth oldest working theatre in the country.
