Known as the gateway to the Cotswolds Chipping Norton takes its name from the word Chippy which means market.

Prospering on the wool trade the town, which lies to the North West of the county, is dominated by its central wide market street where the market was held

The impressive town hall which can be seen in this picture was built in 1842 and is of a Neo-classical design.

The small town is quite unique in that it has a small professional Theatre and cinema.

Just North of Chipping Norton are The Rollright Stones. Legend has it that this small circle of stones are impossible to count.
