Bicester is a Small market town in the North East of the county. It has connections to Roman settlements in the area but the town is thought to have been established in the 6th century by the Saxons. The first reference to Bicester was in 1086 when it was mentioned in the Domesday Survey. Bicester's notable neighbour is the Central Ordnance Depot which lies four miles south of the town. It has been established since the 1960's and houses all of the UK's ordnance stock. The depot is the town's largest employer. Bicester is also home to one of the country's oldest Hunts which has been going since 1778. Weblinks Bicester.net www.ox26.info | | |
