The Henley Festival is proud to welcome a singer rapidly earning 'living legend' status. Following in the steps of the mould breaking 'Three Tenors', Argentinian José Cura has set the opera world alight with his heartfelt and intensely musical performances of the great operatic tenor roles. For Henley he shows his remarkable versatility as he also conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra and is joined by Henley Festival's young generation rising star, violinist Siân Phillips in a programme including music by Verdi, Puccini, Meyerbeer and the music of the great Neapolitan master, Tosti.

12.15pm Eureka!! A continuous programme in and around the Dome featuring young musicians from Henley and Berkshire, all of whom are associated with The Eureka! Foundation. Many of Eureka's former students have gone on to make their way in the music profession and this extended session gives a wonderful opportunity to see and hear many of today's most emerging young musicians. Eureka! is supported by the Friends of Henley Festival.

7.15pm I Fagiolini - The Full Monte Club Marquee With the Friends of Henley Festival's SHOUT! Programme focusing in 2004 on the voice, the Festival welcomes top vocal ensemble I Fagiolini who present Monteverdi's glorious books of madrigals in a strikingly novel way. A real opportunity to appreciate glorious music brilliantly performed at close range.
7.15pm The London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra The Dome Celtic, Cajun, Cossack, Klezmer and Country Blues with high energy and great humour. 8.45pm Orchestra on Fire! Floating Stage A 120 strong cast presents an evening of the majestic music that has provided the backdrop to 10 years of Henley Festival firework extravanganzas. Music including a brand new adaptation of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries - with a 4-strong complement of Valkyries headed by soprano Gweneth-Ann Jeffers, Walton's Spitfire Prelude and Fugue; the Finale of Saint-Saëns mighty Organ Symphony with John Birch (organ);and the overwhelming Appian Way from The Pines of Rome with full off stage brass chorus provided by young Trinity College musicians. With the Reading Phoenix Choir, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Nicolae Moldoveanu (conductor)and a magical appearance from the Dream Engine's Heliosphere. Devised and presented by Stewart Collins.

Dominic Holland is a familiar face on television; this award winning comedian's many appearances include Clive Anderson Now, The Royal Variety Show and Have I Got News For You. 11.30pm & 12.45am The Peatbog Faeries The Dome The Henley Saturday night's tradition of heavy duty dancing continues as The Dome heaves to the furious rock 'n reel energy of eight piece Scottish outfit, The Peatbog Faeries, the group that wowed audiences at Henley Festival's Jubilation! in 2002. 12.45am Late Laughs with Steve Rawlings Club Marquee Steve Rawlings explodes on to the stage with his unique blend of one-liners and technical ability, whether juggling Ping-Pong balls with his mouth, or setting his head on fire. He has appeared in over 60 television shows and performed all over the world. |
