Krutches
Durham duo Krutches were originally featured on the Ouch Podcast. They sent in a song with their feedback, but we only had time to play part of it, so have decided to give The Disability Song the recognition it deserves here.

Diane and Greg Hamilton, otherwise known as Krutches, live in the little town of Seaham in Co. Durham. They married in 2004, but have been making music together for 10 years.
Greg says, "Krutches was the name chosen by Diane to highlight the fact that we are disabled musicians, spelt incorrectly, with a "k", to accentuate the fact that although we are disabled, when it comes to musical ability it isn't important. We premiered in about 1996 at a local garden fete with terrible nerves and sub-standard equipment, gave a reasonable performance to an audience of children eating candy floss, their parents drinking beer and the old folks sipping tea. From then we learned an awful lot about what to play and what not to play and as a result of this embarked on a flourishing (if underpaid) career on the local pub and club circuit."
So why are Greg and Diane now using their home computer to develop ideas in the back room instead of performing live?
"We gave up the pub and club game as it was becoming too onerous to service, the gear needed kept growing larger and larger. The sound was great but there were only two of us with voluntary help to transport and erect all this stuff each time we had a gig so eventually, circumstances forced us to think again."

With advanced osteoarthritis, blindness and OCD between them, Krutches felt qualified to write a track especially for the Ouch website. Below is Take Your Pick. See how many impairments you can recognise, Some may have even featured on the Ouch Podcast.
