The picture shows a night-time scene. Spud is waiting by the side of the road, attempting to hail a taxi with his egg-whisk hand in the air. Although it is dark, our hero and his false limb are illuminated by a bright yellow spotlight.

A huge line of London taxis stretches into the distance, as far as we can see - indeed, there is no other type of car on the road. All the taxis have their 'for hire' lights on, except, spookily, for the two that are passing a stranded Spud.
