This is China's first World Cup, they'll be hoping Brazil and Turkey go easy on them.
Nottingham PhD student Junguo Pang, looks at China's chances in this year's World Cup finals.
| Junguo Pang - China | | How is your country preparing for the World Cup? | | This is the first ever time China has qualified for the World Cup. We have a very experienced coach: Bora Milutinovic. He has a lot of experiences. He used to coach four different teams and all of them have gone into the last 16. We planned to have Five friendly matches in April and May, including with Korea, Portugal.... Chinese football team will have a close training in Kunming for about one month, which is the best football training centre in southwest China. Kunming is also located in high land with an altitude of 2000 metres. | | How do you think China will do in the World Cup? | | I think China will try the best to win a game in the group. But it will be difficult for us to qualify from this Group. Brazil, Turkey are stronger than us. Also, we need more experience. I hope we can beat Turkey, then we have chance to go into last 16! | | Who's your best player and why? | | I think the best player in China is Hao Haidong. He is the best forward in Asia. He has high speed and very skillful. His style are similar with Alan Shearer. Also, I want to mention, we have another best player, his name is Sun Jihai, he is now in Man City. | | What do you think to the England side? | | I am a England fan as well. I think England will do well in this World Cup, at least go into the semi-final. It is always very excited to watch England game. England vs Argentina will be the best group match, and I think the result will be 2-2. Also, I hope David Beckham's foot be healed soon. I am a little bit worry about the goalkeeper of England team. In order to do well, a good and reliable goalkeeper is very important. David Seaman sometimes reacts so slowly. | | Where will you be watching the matches? | | I will watch the game mostly at home with my friends. For some important matches, I will go to pub. |
